Eating well doesn't necessarily mean that one must pay more. In fact, with the tips we share on this blog and the ViSalus Body By Vi meal replacement shakes that we advise for supplementation, you will actually spend far less money. These tips are especially helpful if you have or know kids that attend universities and are constantly wondering how to lose weight in college. Their pantry and eating options are automatically limited if they live on campus. Adopting a few of these tips and the Visalus weight loss program will help them avoid the "Freshman 10" and lose love handles instead of building them! So lets get started on what to put in your pantry to make sure we accomplish our mission of learning how to lose belly fat.
Take these tips and swap them into your pantry and cabinets and you will be able to whip up a healthy and nutritious meal and save a bundle while doing it.
LOSE THE...Canned albacore tuna (solid white)
INSTEAD STOCK...Canned chunk light tuna.
Why? Although both provide a good source of lean protein, the chunk light has about a third of the amount of mercury and you can buy the chunk light tuna for about half the price. Protein for lean muscle but none of the saturated fat that would not help us in our mission of how to lose fat.
LOSE THE...Reduced-fat peanut butter
INSTEAD STOCK...Natural peanut butter
Why? Items that are "Reduced fat" doesn't always mean that this product is healthier so in this case they reduce the fat by removing some of the peanuts but they replace it with additives like simple corn syrup which is simply additional sugar. We don't need these additives and sugars in our diet and quest to lose weight.
LOSE THE...Flavored instant oatmeal
INSTEAD STOCK...Quick cooking oats
Why? Flavored oatmeal is convenient but rolled oats are a lot more versatile. Another important fact is the rolled oats are cheaper than the box of flavored oatmeal. Use oats in cookies, muffins or fruit crisp for added nutritional value. Rolled oats are a great pantry item to aid us in losing belly fat.
LOSE THE...Boxed rice side dishes
INSTEAD STOCK...Brown Rice
Why? Expensive! The boxed rice is expensive and it only makes 1 dish! To add to that, often times these are high in sodium and we all know that sodium will not help our diet or to lose weight. Brown rice can be seasoned and made into a dish to compliment just about any meal.
